At the DeMist River Camp we cater for the outdoor lover and general camping population who appreciate nature.

Again, we try to keep life simple and quiet, with no electricity and no generators allowed. We also have strict rules about radios and loud music.

Our communal ablutions are open-air but private – when was the last time that you had a nice hot shower under the African sky?

With gas geysers and flushing toilets, you do not need to fret about general convenience.

Our six campsites each has their own braai area and tap.

At the De Mist River Camp there are also spacious 3 x 6 m Camping Huts each with a 3 x 6 m verandah with a braai. There is no electricity.

Bring everything you would’ve for camping except your tent and matrass. Please note : no bedding is included.

The lone standing huts are perfect for families with young children or anybody who loves being outdoors but are less keen on putting up a tent.

Since you are on the bank of the Gamtoos River why not pack a fishing rod as well. From experience natural bait like earthworms always works but that does not mean you should not bring your whole tackle box with all the “pap” flavours and lures Species you can expect to catch are Carp, Eel, Curper, Barber and even Bass if your lucky.

If fishing is not your thing, just sit back and enjoy a sundowner and admire the wonderful birdlife that includes our resident pair of fish eagles.
