Koppieskraal Kameelplaas is situated W Askham 55km on the road to Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the Northern Cape. The farm offers 3 campsites on bare ground with no shade so a ground sheet is useful to keep dust and sand out your rig. Farini’s Lost City and Koppieskraal Pan sites are R400 for first 2 guests R200 pp each additional guest with no power no ablutions no water, third site with basic ablutions same rate. You must be entirely self-sufficient, bring everything you need to braai stand grid utensils, most people build firepit on ground, wood available by prior arrangement, groceries Askham 67km. Activities include fascinating camel experience, visit dairy, get close to camels, taste milk, camel meat savouries, sweet dessert made from camel milk, Afriqueen shop, hiking trails, star-gazing, birding. Although not native camels were brought to Northern Cape for police mounties to patrol Kalahari. Suitable only for robust high clearance ideally 4×4 and off-road trailers rooftop tents ground tents. 40km gravel road, any rainfall exceeding 3mm changes pan into mud bath unsuitable for any vehicles then alternative campsite may be provided without ablutions. Pets not allowed, malaria-free, only MTN cell signal, no WiFi.

Braai: bring everything you need to braai stand grid utensils etc, most people build a firepit on ground, wood available for purchase by prior arrangement.
Campsites: 3 campsites each unique and different, camp on bare ground so ground sheet useful, no shade, only for entirely self-sufficient camper, Farini’s Lost City and Koppieskraal Pan.

Rules: pets not allowed, malaria-free area, only MTN cell signal on farm, no WiFi hotspot, keep valuables secured, suitable only for robust high clearance vehicles ideally 4×4 and off-road trailers rooftop tents ground tents, 40km gravel road to farm, any rainfall exceeding 3mm can change pan into mud bath unsuitable for any vehicles including 4×4 alternative campsite will be provided but may not have ablutions, entirely self-sufficient in every respect, book camel experience in advance, tasting and shop.
Best for: overlanders, photographers, star-gazers, those seeking absolute silence, off-the-beaten-track Kgalagadi stopover.
Not for: soft road caravans, families needing ablutions on every site, anyone needing power or water.
