Soetdoring Nature Reserve is 8000ha of Free State grassland 40km northwest of Bloemfontein. The campsite sits on the Modder River with 20 shaded sites under acacia trees. Managed by Free State Tourism, it’s popular for fishing, birding, and as an overnight stop to the Cape. Game includes springbok, blesbok, zebra, and 200+ bird species. Weekends get busy with locals, but midweek is quiet.
